In the light of a clear blue bunny

(apologies to Dolly Parton for her song "In The Light Of A Clear Blue Morning")

We regained power last night around 6:00 (-5 GMT). Tomorrow we all are going to be cleaning the house.

No guarantees on the hot water heater or furnace, since they both have been under water for 12 days.

We're going to make it, though. We'll come out of this stronger, tougher, and more bitchy. Oh wait, we already are more bitchy. :-)

Now, we need to get some carrots in the cooler or I'm going to starve! We don't have fruit loops in the house any more, and the peanut butter is looking a little, well, can peanut butter look soggy?

Now... my life can get back to its normal hoppy goodness!

Tonight should be a bit easier

on all of us. I'm hopping back to the Shenandoah Forester with Tink and Silver Blue for what may be the last time before we have power. Then it's a matter of getting the water heater replaced, and the place cleaned.

It's been a long week and a half. I look forward to laying my little bunny head back down in my own bunny bed.

Everybody Needs A Little Time Away

.... so PoloRandy, Silver Blue and I went to see Peter Cetera with the Virginia Pops Symphony on saturday. (After all, we had no power, so what else were we going to do?)

He doesn't have the voice he used to (he had problems holding a note for even 3-4 seconds) but it was good to hear the music again. Kim Keys, his percussionist and the one who provided the Amy Grant/Cher/Chaka Khan vocals in the three duets, was awesome. (Her opening Cher impersonation was funny as all).

Thanks to Becky, we had two box seats (they brought me along in an inside pocket).

Hoppin' My Way to NC

I'm getting ready to get in the car with PoloRandy and head on down to Elizabeth City, where I'll show off some fancy footwork on log rolling as he cuts apart branches, I hop up on them, and roll them out of the yard.

Thank God I've been doing paw stretches and have my cleats on today. :-)

Hop at you later,

I'm begining to feel like the homeless

as I don't know where we'll be spending tonight. I guess that must be what it feels like to be homeless. You never know where you'll be trying to get some sleep just to be able to survive another day.

My tiny bunny heart goes out to those less fortunately than us. We have a house we can go back to, even though there's no power or phone or food other than peanut butter. There are many, whom, after Isabel is nothing but a memory for us that will still be on the street, trying to protect whatever property is theirs, sleeping on park benches or under underpasses because life has handed them a bum hand.

May God have mercy on us all.

Hopped In

with Silver Blue today. He's posted two really good hurricane collections HERE and HERE.

After a WONDERFUL night in AC with carrots and a cumfy bed to rest my little head (thanks DMA!!!!), life is looking up for me today.

Hopping around SB's office...

Once they get everything done

I should be back to normal. My blue fur is fading, my nose is losing its sensitivity, my ears are drooping, and ... well, my bunny nerves are SHOT.

My best to you all. Say a prayer for us.

I thought I'd seen a bitch

before, BUT. Silver Blue got his new computer in yesterday and we don't have power, phone, or a generator. He claims it's just "holding the floor down for the moment" but I can tell by looking at him that it's a rough day for him.

So.... I went to work at AllisonWonderland today with PoloRandy. This being the 7th day without power is beginning to make everyone (including myself) irritable.

This tastes DISGUSTING!

Silver Blue was thinking of me when he brought Arizona Grapeade (it has carrot juice in it, though I can't fathom why!!!!). It's some of the worst tasting stuff I've ever put my pink bunny lips on. SHUDDER! Thanks for the thought, though, SB!

In other news, he's got the Hurricane Photos up (including one of Forester Bear and me that, if I can say, looks quite beautiful!)

Rain, Rain, GO AWAY!!!!

I never thought I'd be sick of rain, BUT....

I hopped in to work with Silver Blue today. It's been pouring buckets today.

Even carrots need sunshine and not too much water. (hehehe)

How are we doing? Well, we're all getting along. We're talking a lot. There's no technology to get in the way. It's been nice. It also goes a long way to prove that we can coexist with 4 of us in the house and 1 bathroom. (It also doesn't hurt that I can hop behind the bushes if nature's call is that strong.)

So, what's going on in everyone else's life? How's things with you?

As a side note, I could have sworn I caught Evil Glenn of the Axis of Evil Naughty curled up with THIS book:

HE MUST BE STOPPED!

Making A Big Wind

Thanks to all who were worried about us.

Silver Blue has posted the entire story so far.

I hopped in to work with PoloRandy today.... interesting there as well, as not many people have power either. But he bought me tender, baby carrots, so I think I'll have to keep him around for a bit longer.

Everyone's back to work, and we're waiting for power, phone and internet at home.

Morning Has Broken...

...thank god I don't have to hop around and pick up the pieces.

We still have power and internet (PoloRandy even decided to come over last night).

The rain has started...and the winds are beginning to pick up. Speaking of pick up, I hopped on the front porch and they picked ME up. I let out a yell and everyone came running. They got be before I went too far (thank goodness).

I've dried my fur off now and have declared myself an indoor bunny again (at least until after Isabel has passed.

Full House.

Well, the bears are finally here.

The two mink byches have settled down.

Forester Bear is here. You may remember him from my travel page:

fandrb.jpg

There's also another bear here: Amsterdam. He's quiet, has on glasses and a pocket watch around his neck. I haven't figured out what to make of him yet. A doorstop, maybe.

Revog also sent me a bear (I'm overrun with them!!!) I've kicked him to the curb, as I said I would, but he was kinda cute. He may go on the shelf.

Well, we're having salad of some sort, and Tink and Silver Blue bought me carrots, so I'm hopping back downstairs to have something to eat.

Hop at you later!

Hmm.

Silver Blue's gone to bed so I can make a comment about these two additional rabbits that PoloRandy gave him to look after.

Just because the bitches are made of MINK are no cause for them to think they're any better than the rest of us, dammit.

I was rough on one of them, and if she didn't have a prothesis, I'd think I'd ripped her hind leg off.

She'll learn, however, to jump when I say jump!

Posted by Roxette at 11:49 PM | Comments (2)

Hop to it!

They're ordering evacuations all around. (Checking my lunch box - yep, full of carrots and carrot juice).

Tink, SilverBlue, PoloRandy and I are running down to Elizabeth City, NC to secure the things that may go thump in the night and then we're dashing back up here.

SilverBlue, Tink and I will be in Hampton (with or without internet, we're not sure just yet) while PoloRandy will be in Virginia Beach, ready to zoom down the interstate to tend to Bonnie & Evelyn should the need arise.

Be safe everyone!

Not that good of an evening

I stayed out of the way when Tink and Silver Blue were cleaning up in the basement.... unfortunately, from the last floods some things got wet and it wasn't a good thing.

I wish there had been something I could have done, but unfortuantely my paws are small and can't carry much. Tink did a lot of running up and down the stairs (she definately got her workout tonight) while Silver Blue was arranging stuff at ground level. He says if the water gets that high, we're all up the creek. I think he knows what he's talking about.

Hopefully tomorrow we'll all be a little less tired and can start back on top 10 lists, etc. and maybe some humor. We're all a bit down, so pardon me not being so bouncy.

Until tomorrow,
RB™

Posted by Roxette at 08:57 PM | Comments (1)

Guess I'll be hopping up and down stairs again

As we try to empty the basement, since they're really calling for some nasty weather to come our way.

Pray for me. I'm just a small blue bunny, doing the best I can in a cold, cruel world that wants to rain on me.

Packing Up My Carrots

Got to be ready to get in the car with SilverBlue when the time comes.

A shame Mother Nature can be so unpredictable. We've already received 2 inches of rain today, and that's before Isabel even gets anywhere near enough to us to affect our weather!

RB™

Posted by Roxette at 01:49 PM | Comments (0)

Thanks Tink

SilverBlue forgot me at home.

How rude! Tink was nice, though and brought me in.

I'm trying to stay dry (we're having scattered showers today). I haven't been bouncing too much today. It's depressing knowing we may all not have a house to live in if Isabel hits too close to home.

Give me some slack here, this is the first hurricane I've had to weather.

So, Isabel...

...stay FAR, FAR away. We're just getting the house looking right, and I don't need a big wind to mess things up. If I wanted a big wind to do that, I'd goose SilverBlue.

Back into hiding. I hear Evil Glenn is in the neighborhood!

Alliance Intelligence

The Alliance of Free Blogs wanted to know what Evil White Glenn's favorite song was and why.

I came up with a total of 4 (I had to paw through SilverBlue's CD collection to find the 4th:

Shock The Monkey - Peter Gabriel (pretty self explanitory)

Eyes Without A Face - Billy Idol (most of his pictures feature BIIIIIG eyes, not unlike us bunnies)

Legend In My Living Room - Annie Lennox (and where else would he be a "legend"? oh, I know "You're A Legend In Your Own Mind" by country recording star Sylvia Kirby Rutlidge Hutton (who just went by "Sylvia"))

and finally:

Hobo Humpin' Slobo Babe - Whale. Need I say more?

Here where I am

It's quiet. It's raining. It's grey. The perfect day for a bunny to curl up with a book and a bag of baby carrots.

I'm going to have to beat up on Silver Blue for not posting pictures of me on my steed, "Graff", my faithful Giraffe.

Together, there's nothing in the Shenandoah Forester that we can't overcome!

Feeling Better

HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!

I'm feeling much better today. It's raining again, but whatever I had yesterday seems to have gone on its way.

I'm going to be guest blogging at Tink's blog, Flitting Here And There this weekend as she's going to be out of the state (and out of her time zone to hear her talk about men in armor and such -- or maybe she's just out of her mind!)

SilverBlue and PoloRandy were able to get the "new" living room chairs over last night, as well as some other stuff. It's fun to watch the house take its final shape. :-)

Anyway, time to hop downstairs and get my morning juice.

SEE YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Headache

This blue blunny is ill. :( Seems that they're doing something with the ventilation system here and it's causing a bad headache and my ears to droop.

Silver Blue is being a sweetheart, however, and has given me Advil and some V8 (no vodka in it, we're at work). He's turned off the thump-ing stereo and put on some soothing music to try to ease my head.

Take a moment of silent meditation.

You'll be glad you did.

Sorry, but had to console another

Seems like that's all I do these days! (My nose is twitching!!!!!)

SilverBlue's PC went to the Windows in the sky today and he had to reload. Fortunately, he didn't lose his temper like he normally does, or I would have hidden behind the photos on his desk as he ranted and raved.

He didn't lose any data, however, so... maybe we won't have to put him on Prozac.

From what I understand, the dining room is going to get painted this weekend. That's good. The colors they chose aren't going to clash with my fur.

The curtains for the living room, however, are a different matter. PoloRandy and SilverBlue couldn't find something they both could agree on, so we all went to Arby's and had roast beast. (And curly fries...they bought me curly fries!!!!)

We're all going to go shopping to Potomac Mills on the 20th of this month...so if you live in that area: Dawn, Ted, RachAEL (sorry Mookie); watch out!!!! :-)

Over and out...

All this Rain

...is beginning to make this Hare Frizz.

Actually, after a quite nice weekend, rain free, I don't mind the scattered showers that are going through the area.

The Fall like temperatures are perfect for growing produce, including the carrots and lettuce that I'm fond of. (I hear it also induces more egg production as well, and that's good because I've developed a taste for Egg Nog).

Yes, I'm for the Alliance

I've declared myself the Official Mascot of the Alliance of Free Blogs. As Silver Blue put it, all I have to do is be cute and link.

By doing so, and smiling big, I found that Evil Glenn is trying to enter the fast food racket with the McHobo Value Meal with Super Sized Shoestrings (puppies still attached) and Gallonsized beverage of unfiltered sewer water.

There were several times I almost was caught, but being that they met in a toy store (thinking no bloggers would be there), I was able to blend in and go unnoticed.

Ahead with the Alliance and down the ecosystem with the Axis of Evil Naughty!

Well....

it's been a day of ups and downs. (Ok, get your obligatory HOP joke out of the way here.)

I slept for most of the day. All the hopping up and down the stairs for PoloRandy and his relations wore me out. Did help firm the legs and buttocks though.

Now that I'm back at the Shenandoah Forester, I can say that I've missed this place, and it's really coming together.

I've got to try to talk Silver Blue into posting some photos of the place in something larger than a pigs eye so that you can really see what it's looking like.

Now that you've read this, get some rest. You're looking tired.

It's a sad day...

I've been consoling PoloRandy as today was the first day of the estate sale for his late landlady.

It's been rough for him to have, as he puts it, "people pawing through Mary's things."

I smacked him over the head and told him humans don't have paws. I have paws.

He hugged me and stopped crying for a bit. Emotions are such a difficult thing, and it's hard to let go of someone you loved.

Hopping On The Southside

PoloRandy and Silver Blue took me all over Virginia Beach this evening. I'm tired, so I've crashed over at PoloRandy's.

Besides, I needed some time with the boys. Forester says the PoloBears are getting out of hand, and handed me my whip.

After all, what good is being cute, true, and sky blue if you don't have a whip?

It's Cozy

Well, I'm moving in, finding lots of places to plant my paws....and stretch out. Finally have (I think) my counter working, and I've registered over at The Truth Laid Bear.

I want to join The Alliance as well (I need to find a graphic I like). Maybe I can be the Alliance Mascot? Hehehehe.

Oh look. Neighbors just brought carrot juice. Poison indicators are negative, so I'm going to invite them in for some libations.
